Posted by Enlivant support center on March 9, 2017
We are pleased to introduce Sammy Spencer, Lisa Hurkman, Patricia Gatewood and Christina Chaffin as Enlivant’s 2016 Mission-Vision-Values (MVV) award winners. Our annual MVV Award winners embody Enlivant’s core values of compassion, humility, integrity, excellence and fun each and every day— and this year was no exception.

Meet our 2016 winners, see why they were selected and how they represent Enlivant’s dedication to helping seniors thrive in mind, body and spirit.

Sammy Spencer, Maintenance Technician, McKinney Place, Logansport, IN
Sam has been working in health care since he was just 16 years old and is an inspiration to everyone around him. He genuinely cares for all of the residents at McKinney Place and his vast knowledge and workmanship has helped make it into a comfortable, welcoming home for every resident. Always ready to help everyone around him, you can often find him taking on roles well beyond maintenance, even cooking in the kitchen. Sam is truly a blessing to the community and helps the residents and his colleagues in any way he can. He’s an all-around great person and an asset to Enlivant and McKinney Place.

Lisa Hurkman, Life Enrichment Coordinator, North Woods Place, Escanaba, MI
Residents of North Woods Place call Lisa “the life of the party” because she goes above and beyond to make everyone happy. Her co-workers call her “the glue that holds the entire community together” because they don’t know where they would be without her. Lisa makes sure she knows the residents personally enough to find out what they value so she can incorporate it into more inclusive and personalized activities, ensuring that no one is left out. She embraces all of Enlivant’s core values as well as showing compassion for everyone in the North Woods Place community. Lisa is a vital part of the North Woods Place community and we really don’t know what we would do without her!

Patricia Gatewood, Resident Care Partner, Preston Place, Sherman, TX
Patricia came to Preston Place after moving her mother-in-law into the community. She loved it so much she became part of the team. Patricia has a certain magic about her; she can make any resident feel comfortable, safe and secure. Her genuineness and the tremendous love she has for all of the residents makes her an extremely compassionate and caring worker. She is known to her coworkers as ‘mama’ because she cares about them as much as she does for the residents at Preston Place. Thanks to her compassion and undeniable work ethic, Patricia is not just an employee to her coworkers, she is a true friend to all.

Christina Chaffin, Qualified Medication Aide, Lanier Place, Cumming, GA
Christina demonstrates what it means to be a true team player. Whether it’s covering an open shift, helping out one of her coworkers or stepping up to help management, her dependability is unparalleled. A real testament to Christina’s work ethic and compassion is the amount of thank you notes she has received from the residents’ families. Christina’s main focus is making sure the residents of Lanier Place are happy, and her incredible patience and her willingness to meet each resident’s needs have often been noted by family members. She truly is Lanier Place’s role model.

Join us in congratulating these deserving MVV Award winners, as well as recognizing the entire Enlivant team who strive to enrich lives through building lasting relationships and vibrant communities.
